Trade Union Bill — New Clause 2 — Workplace Ballots and Ballots by Electronic Means — 10 Nov 2015 at 16:30

The majority of MPs voted against allowing trade unions to hold workplace ballots electronically.

MPs were considering the Trade Union Bill[1].

The proposed new clause rejected in this vote was titled Workplace ballots and ballots by electronic means[2]; it sought to provide for allowing workplace ballots, including on industrial action and for union positions, to be held wholly, or partially, electronically. The clause also sought to require the co-operation of employers, and to prevent employers interfering or surveilling the process.
