The majority of MPs voted against only allowing sustainable drainage systems to be connected to public sewers.

Lords amendment 110[2] sought to introduce a new clause titled Sustainable drainage systems which provided for only those complying with their planning permission and technical standards for sustainable drainage systems to be permitted to connect a drainage system to public sewers.
