Police Grant Report (England and Wales) for 2017-18 — Level of Central Government Funding for Policing — 22 Feb 2017 at 15:07

The majority of MPs voted to set central government funding of policing in England and Wales for 2017-18 at a level 1.16% higher than was set for 2016-17.

The motion supported by the majority of MPs, and the majority representing English and Welsh constituencies was:

The report set the total 2017-18 central government grant for policing at £7,509,016,194 (The figure was £7,421,588,629 for 2016-17[1])

The central government grants are one of the ways policing in England and Wales is funded; council tax is another significant source of funding. Some of the government grant is paid as a "council tax freeze grant" paid where policing bodies decided in the past not to increase their element of council tax above a level set by the government.
