NHS Bursaries — Student Loans — Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professions and Dental Profession Subjects — 9 May 2018 at 20:10
The majority of MPs voted to remove NHS bursaries from full-time postgraduate pre-registration courses in nursing, midwifery, allied health professions, and undergraduate dental profession subjects, for those starting from 1 August 2018, with students to be offered loans instead.
The motion rejected by the majority of MPs, and the majority of MPs representing constituencies in England was:
- That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, praying that the Education (Student Support) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2018 (S.I., 2018, No. 443), dated 28 March 2018, a copy of which was laid before this House on 28 March, be annulled.
The regulations were laid for a second time to enable a debate in the House of Commons; no time had been allocated to debate the initial version despite a "prayer motion to annul the Regulations" having been tabled.
Votes by party, red entries are votes against the majority for that party.
What is Tell? '+1 tell' means that in addition one member of that party was a teller for that division lobby.
What are Boths? An MP can vote both aye and no in the same division. The boths page explains this.
What is Turnout? This is measured against the total membership of the party at the time of the vote.
|Party||Majority (No)||Minority (Aye)||Both||Turnout|
|Con||294 (+2 tell)||0||0||93.7%|
|Lab||0||220 (+2 tell)||0||86.4%|
