Draft Electricity and Gas (Powers to Make Subordinate Legislation) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2018 — 14 Nov 2018 at 17:55
The majority of MPs voted to allow UK and Northern Ireland ministers to amend the law (European Union Regulations) in respect of conditions for access to the network for cross-border exchanges in electricity; conditions for access to the natural gas transmission networks; wholesale energy market integrity and transparency; and safeguarding the security of gas supply.
The motion supported by the majority of MPs in this vote was:
- That the draft Electricity and Gas (Powers to Make Subordinate Legislation) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2018, which were laid before this House on 5 September, be approved.
The explanatory memorandum accompanying the draft regulations[1] states the powers are being transferred from the European Commission to "a domestic authority" (UK or Northern Ireland ministers).
