Draft Animal Welfare (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 — 27 Mar 2019 at 22:56

The majority of MPs voted for amendments to keep the law on animal welfare during transportation and killing effective on the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union including by ceasing recognition of slaughterers' certificates of competence issued in other European Union member states and to permit meat produced in Member States, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland to be accepted in the UK as it is now, and not to treat it like imports from the rest of the world and require a "third country health certificate".

The motion supported by a majority of MPs in this vote was:

The regulations include provision for the unilateral recognition of CE marking by the UK, as well as a UK framework for a replacement marking.

The regulations provide for the recognition of United Kingdom bodies to replace European Union conformity assessment bodies.
