High Speed Rail (West Midlands — Crewe) Bill — New Clause 5 — Non-Disclosure Agreements — 15 Jul 2019 at 19:30

The majority of MPs voted not to ban the High Speed Rail (West Midlands - Crewe) primary contractor from entering into non-disclosure agreements unless they are deemed in the public interest.

MPs were considering the High Speed Rail (West Midlands - Crewe) Bill[1]

The proposed new clause rejected by a majority of MPs in this vote was titled:Non-Disclosure Agreements and began with its key operative clause:

  • (1) The nominated undertaker, or any subcontractors thereof, must not enter into any non-disclosure agreement with any party in connection with the scheduled works unless the assessor of non-disclosure agreements related to the scheduled works (“the assessor”) has certified that it is in the public interest.

Further subclauses deal with the appointment of the assessor and the definition of terms.
