The majority of MPs voted against an assessment of the effect of the Finance Act on job creation.

The proposed new clause rejected in this vote was titled: Review of impact of Act on job creation and stated:
- “The Chancellor of the Exchequer must conduct an assessment of the effect of the Act on job creation, and lay this before the House of Commons within six months of Royal Assent.”
The rejected new clause was accompanied by the following explanatory statement from its proposer:
- This new clause would require the Chancellor of the Exchequer to review the impact of the Bill on job creation.
