Draft Immigration (Health Charge) (Amendment) Order 2020 — 30 Sep 2020 at 19:58
The majority of MPs voted to increase the immigration health charge to £470 for students and those under eighteen and to £624 for adults. The charge was originally £150 or £200 when it was initiated in 2015, it rose to £300 or £400 in 2016.
The immigration health charge is payable by non-European Economic Area nationals who enter the UK for more than six months in a temporary capacity or who apply to extend their temporary stay in the UK, subject to certain exemptions. Those who pay the immigration health charge can access NHS services free of charge (subject to those charges UK residents must pay, such as for prescriptions and dental treatment in England).
