The majority of MPs voted against the publication of the Department for Health and Social Care's internal review of their operation during the pandemic as referenced by the Prime Minister’s official spokesman on 12 May.
MPs were considering the motion:
- That an Humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, as follows:
- Most Gracious Sovereign,
- We, Your Majesty’s most dutiful and loyal subjects, the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled, beg leave to offer our humble thanks to Your Majesty for the Gracious Speech which Your Majesty has addressed to both Houses of Parliament.
The amendment rejected by a majority of MPs in this vote was:
- “but respectfully
- regret that the Government has provided insufficient information for its proposals properly to be scrutinised; and therefore
- beg leave that she will be graciously pleased to give directions that the following papers be laid before Parliament: the DHSC internal review of their operation during the pandemic as referenced by the Prime Minister’s official spokesman on 12 May.”
There is an expectation that papers laid before Parliament will be published promptly[1].
