MPs were considering the Policing and Crime Bill[1].

The amendment rejected in this vote was:

  • Amendment 3, page 6, line 3, leave out Clause 6

The amendment was accompanied with an explanatory note stating:

  • This amendment, along with amendment 4, would prevent Police and Crime Commissioners from taking over the functions of Fire and Rescue Authorities.

Clause 6 of the Bill[2] was titled: Provision for police and crime commissioner to be fire and rescue authority and stated:

  • Schedule 1 makes provision for a person who is the police and crime commissioner for an area to be the fire and rescue authority for that area.
