The majority of MPs voted to require large gas and electricity suppliers to act, via the installation of measures in homes, to reduce the cost to individuals of heating their homes by a total of £8.253 billion by 31st March 2022. The regulations set out how each supplier's obligation would be calculated.
The motion supported by the majority of MPs in this vote was:
- That the draft Electricity and Gas (Energy Company Obligation) Order 2018, which was laid before this House on 19 July, be approved.
