The majority of MPs voted to enable rural development programmes initially governed by European Union law to continue to operate in the United Kingdom on its withdrawal from the union, for the remainder of the 2014 to 2020 programming period.
The explanatory notes to the regulations state:
- The UK Government has guaranteed that any European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development projects, where funding has been agreed before the end of 2020, will be funded for their full lifetime
The motion supported by the majority of MPs in this vote was:
- That the draft Rural Development (Rules and Decisions) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, which were laid before this House on 13 February, be approved.
