Draft Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education (England) Regulations 2019 — 27 Mar 2019 at 22:56
The majority of MPs voted to require schools to teach about relationships (in primary schools) and sex and relationships (in secondary schools) as well as to make health education compulsory in all schools other than independent schools.
The regulations supported by the majority of MPs also contained a provision enabling a parent (or someone in an equivalent position) to request that a pupil may be wholly or partly excused from sex education, and for that request to be granted unless the head teacher considers that the pupil should not be so excused.
The regulations supported by the majority o MPs require schools to have regards to Government guidance on the curriculum.
The motion supported by the majority of MPs in this vote was:
- That the draft Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education (England) Regulations 2019, which were laid before this House on 25 February, be approved.
