Business of the House — Sittings of the House (20 and 23 March) — 23 Feb 2012 at 15:54
The majority of MPs voted against an extra siting day of the House of Commons Wednesday 28 March, and consequently an additional session of Prime Minister's questions.
MPs were considering a motion:
- That:
- (1) there shall be no sitting in Westminster Hall on Tuesday 20 March; and
- (2) this House shall sit on Friday 23 March.
The amendment rejected in this vote was:
- Amendment (c), at end add—
- and, notwithstanding the decision of the House of 21 February, on Wednesday 28 March
The 21 February decision referred to the vote on the 2012 recess dates[1] for the House of Commons, which included a "rising" of the House of Commons on the 27th of March 2012.
The motion which was the subject of this vote would have added an extra siting day of the House of Commons Wednesday 28 March, and consequently an additional session of Prime Minister's questions.
