Police and Justice Bill — 10 Oct 2006 at 19:24

Page 25, leave out line 6 and insert "and Community Safety"
Page 25 of the then-current version of the Bill is here. The amendment changed the wording of paragraph 27 clause (1) from
Her Majesty may appoint a person to be Chief Inspector for Justice, Community Safety and Custody.
to
Her Majesty may appoint a person to be Chief Inspector for Justice and Community Safety.
The effect of the amendment is that the new Chief Inspector for Justice and Community Safety will be *in addition to* the current Chief Inspector of Prisons, rather than replacing him.

On Question, Whether the said amendment (No. 87) shall be agreed to?

Their Lordships divided: Contents, 211; Not-Contents, 98.
