The majority of MPs voted to introduce a set of minimum welfare standards for all ‘wild’ animals (meaning an animal belonging to a species which is not normally domesticated in Great Britain) used by travelling circuses in England.
The motion approved by the majority of MPs was:
- That the draft Welfare of Wild Animals in Travelling Circuses (England) Regulations 2012, which were laid before this House on 12 July, be approved.
