Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill — Clause 2 — Entitlement to vote in the referendum — 18 Oct 2010 at 20:45

The majority of MPs voted not to exclude citizens of Commonwealth countries or of the Republic of Ireland from voting in the referendum on the system for electing UK MPs.

The section of the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill[1] to be amended (page 2, line 9)[2]originally read:

  • Those entitled to vote in the referendum are—
  • (a) the persons who, on the date of the referendum, would be entitled to vote as electors at a parliamentary election in any constituency, ...
