House of Lords Bill — 16 Feb 1999
I beg to move amendment No. 13, in page 1, line 6, at end add
'or shall in future be appointed a member of the House of Lords by the exercise of patronage'.
New clause 3-- Appointments Commission (No. 1) --
Question put , That the amendment be made:--
The Committee divided: Ayes 51, Noes 269.
Votes by party, red entries are votes against the majority for that party.
What is Tell? '+1 tell' means that in addition one member of that party was a teller for that division lobby.
What are Boths? An MP can vote both aye and no in the same division. The boths page explains this.
What is Turnout? This is measured against the total membership of the party at the time of the vote.
|Party||Majority (No)||Minority (Aye)||Both||Turnout|
|Con||0||7 (+1 tell)||0||4.9%|
|Lab||254 (+2 tell)||34 (+1 tell)||0||69.8%|
