The majority of MPs voted against giving the National Assembly for Wales powers over policing, police pay, probation, community safety, crime prevention. The National Crime Agency, police pensions and national security were to be exempted from the rejected proposal.
MPs were considering the Policing and Crime Bill.
The proposed new clause rejected in this vote was titled: National Assembly for Wales: devolution of responsibility for policing and stated:
- “(1) In Schedule 7 to the Government of Wales Act 2006 after paragraph 20 insert—
- 21 Policing, police pay, probation, community safety, crime prevention.
- National Crime Agency
- Police pensions
- National security
