The majority of MPs voted to prohibit of a gathering of more than six people unless those gathering are all from the same household, or two linked households, or if an exemption applies.
The regulations which were the subject of this vote retained existing restrictions on gatherings restrictions in private dwellings.
The regulations which were the subject of this vote applied to England and to the territorial water adjacent to England only.
The motion supported a majority of MPs in this vote was:
- That the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (No. 2) (England) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2020 (S.I., 2020, No. 986), dated 13 September 2020, a copy of which was laid before this House on 14 September, be approved.
There were exemptions for protests so-long as they were organised by a business, a charitable, benevolent or philanthropic institution, a public body, or a political body, and they complied with the requirements for a risk assessment and taking "all reasonable measures to limit the risk of transmission of the coronavirus".
