Wales Bill — Schedule 1 — New Schedule 7A to the Government of Wales Act 2006 — 11 Jul 2016 at 19:00

The majority of MPs voted not to devolve powers relation to alcohol and entertainment licensing to the Welsh Assembly.

MPs were considering the Wales Bill.^[1]

The amendment rejected in this vote was:

• Amendment 123, page 49, leave out lines 24 to 29.

The rejected amendment was accompanied by the following explanatory note:

• Paragraph 55 of the new Schedule 7A to be inserted into the Government of Wales Act 2006 by Schedule 1 would reserve the licensing of the provision of entertainment and late night refreshment from the Assembly’s legislative competence. Paragraph 56 would reserve the sale and supply of alcohol. This amendment removes both reservations.

The amendment would have impacted paragraphs 55 and 56 of Schedule 1 of the Bill^[2]

The lines the amendment would have removed if it had not been rejected listed matters to be "reserved" to the UK Parliament and not devolved to the Welsh Assembly. The items in question were:

• 55 Licensing of—
• (a)the provision of entertainment, and
• (b) late night refreshment.

• 56 The sale and supply of alcohol
